Vintage Postcard Collection
These postcards comprised an album put together by my maternal grandmother, Jessica Amelia Jackson (neé Dixon) during and after the First World War. The majority of the cards were sent to her by my grandfather, Sapper John Percival Jackson as he was posted to various places in Western Europe between September 1914 and April 1920. Others were sent to my grandfather, in English, French or Italian. I am grateful to Jan Waugh for helping translate most of the French.

My Darling,I received your letter of 24th today. Am glad that you have got your album at last, but 14/6 would not have been too much for me. I should keep the other album just for views etc. Will you? I have not yet got a watch & will tell you all about it when I do. My cold is about better now. How are you love? It is raining outside so came to the YMCA to write you this and for some tea. How I wish you were here to pour it out for me. It makes it so much nicer and I should not need half so much sugar. Had a swim this morning but the sea was rather rough so I enjoyed it OK. We shall be starting football instead in two or three days. Accept all my love & several kisses. Your own Percy.Notes:
